Lots of Action This Weekend

Updated: Mar 6, 2022

It's a busy weekend in GymACT this weekend! 3 head-to-head battles between inter-conference foes, as well as a 5-team competition featuring 3 NEW GymACT teams.

SC United hosts Arizona in their final home meet of the season. These two teams saw each other in last week's Rob Survick Invitational, and we have to wonder if there will be any fatigue factor in this competition because of the back-to-back for both teams. These two teams are in the GymACT West Conference and look to qualify for the Conference Championships. While it is unknown if this meet will be streamed or not, check the Arizona Men's Gymnastics Facebook page as they usually stream their competitions.

Inner-state and GymACT East Rivals UIC and Northern Illinois also battle head-to-head this weekend. So far this season, these teams have very close GymACT Standard scores (top 4 counting on each event), with UIC's GymACT average coming in at 273.9, and NIU's GymACT average sitting at 272.025. Needless to say, this should be a great fight until the last routine.

In a virtual competition, Georgia United competes for their Second weekend in a row, this time against the New York Alliance. NYA squared off against Temple a few weeks ago to open up their division matchups, but lost in a hardly fought battle with one of GymACT's most historic teams. Georgia United matches up with Temple in 2 weeks, and should they beat NYA today, the winner of that battle will determine who qualifies for the conference championships. However, this task will not come easy to Georgia United. These teams also have very close scores this season, with Georgia United's GymACT average coming in at 249.950, to New York Alliance's 243.267. Both of these teams are without key athletes, and have agreed to use the top 3 scores on each event to determine the winner. This competition will be streamed on SportsScope for $10, and while the meet kicks off at 7:00 EST, the stream will begin about an hour before.

Finally, the competition in Lincoln, Nebraska is a huge matchup. It includes two NCAA teams in Illinois and the host Nebraska, but also features ex-BIG 10 rivals in Iowa and Minnesota. Iowa looks to keep their top-rank in GymACT West, but Arizona could give them a fight. Minnesota holds the top spot in the GymACT East side of things, while Temple hopes they can change that. The final team in this competition is KC United, who looks to improve their season average of 250.325, and hopefully best their highest score of 255.350.
