The 5th edition of the GymACT All-Stars competition was a huge success. What an amazing meet. The energy in the arena was INSANE!


The top athletes on each event from West and East conferences duked it out, head to head as the teams rotated together throughout the meet.  It was close competition, but at the end EAST team stood victorious, taking with them (for the first time) the coveted team plaque.  It was a dramatic end to the WEST team’s 4-year winning streak. 


Thank you to everyone at NAIGC for once again letting us share the excitement of your National Festival.  Such gracious hosts.  *Tip of the hat.

Meanwhile, in another part of the country, another battle ensued in a GymACT dual meet. NIU Huskies and NY Alliance faced off (virtually) and the meet was RIDICULOUSLY close!!! The final team scores closed with ONE TENTH difference: Northern Illinois 🏆279.6000 and NY Alliance 279.5000. 


WOW! 


If these competitions are ANY indication of how extraordinary the post season is gonna be this year, we are in for a treat!

Gymnast of the Week 14

Nominees


Ben Letvin - Minnesota

Ben Letvin had another strong showing at the 2026 GymACT All Star meet, helping the East Team defeat the West Team for the first time in GymACT All Star history. One of only two gymnasts in GymACT history to qualify on all 6 events, Ben posted an impressive score of 77.10 in the non-contested All Around competition. This included three top-3 finishes and six top-6 finishes in a talented pool of East and West All Stars. "Ben definitely came ready to shine in this year's All Star Meet," said East Team Head Coach Mike Burns. "He's been one of the hardest workers in our gym all year long, putting together a strong resume of quality routines in practice all season."

Ben was co-Champion on Vault along with his Minnesota teammate Peter Davis-Ross. This is the second time Ben won this event; the first time was in 2024, his freshman year. He also tied for 2nd on Pommel Horse with a solid routine (12.50) that came at a critical juncture of the East/West battle. Ben finished 3rd on Still Rings (12.8), which helped Team East defeat Team West on this event. He also posted a 4th place finish on Parallel Bars (12.50), a 5th place finish on High Bar (12.50), and a 6th place finish on Floor Exercise (12.90). Ben's 77.10 score in the All Around is the second highest All Around score in the 2026 GymACT Season, setting him up for the last two meets of the season - Eastern Conference Championship and the GymACT National Championships over the next 4 weeks.



Gavin Robey - Mavericks

Gavin Robey’s journey to becoming the GymACT All-Star Championships rings champion is nothing short of remarkable. On February 25, he suffered a serious knee injury—a flap tear of the lateral meniscus, along with ACL and LCL sprains and a tibial bone bruise—an obstacle that would have sidelined most athletes. But Gavin refused to let that moment define his season or derail his goal of becoming the 2026 rings national champion. With relentless determination, disciplined rehab, and unwavering belief, he trained through adversity—modifying routines, eliminating landings, and rebuilding strength day by day. In a true test of grit, he performed full routines with dismounts for the first time at his final practice before All-Stars—and delivered when it mattered most. Rising above pain and doubt, Gavin hit his routine and claimed the championship, adding to his legacy as a 3x All-Star qualifier, 2x medalist, and now a champion. His resilience, toughness, and championship mindset make him more than deserving of Gymnast of the Week.



Samuel Walker, Jr. - Arizona State

Samuel Walker, Jr. delivered a standout performance this week, capturing the GymACT All-Stars Pommel Horse Championship with an impressive 13.4. While often competing alongside some of the top pommel horse specialists in the field, Walker has quietly been the team’s most consistent performer all season. His championship routine was a testament to that reliability, executed with precision and confidence on a big stage. Currently ranked among the top five on Road to Nationals, Walker continues to prove he belongs among the elite and is more than deserving of this week’s recognition.



Karl Vachlin - NIU

Sophomore Karl Vachlin delivered this weekend when NIU went up virtually against the New York Alliance. Karl competed Floor, Pommel Horse, and High Bar being lead off to get the Huskies started with two hit routines. The meet was incredibly close and was back and forth the entire competition. Going into the last rotation the Huskies knew they needed to hit in order to overtake New York. Under immense pressure Karl was the last Huskie to go and he knew the victory or defeat would be determined by how he performed as every tenth mattered. Karl crushed his high bar routine and stuck his dismount pulling the Huskies ahead of New York by .1! It was a nailbiter of a competition and thanks to Karl’s performance a win for the Huskies!
