What a weekend!

GYMNATICS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY! That’s what I’m talking about!

Congratulations to the 10 out of 16 GymACT teams who competed in the various invitational and local meets.  It was a thrilling weekend of competitions.

Arizona dominated at home in the Southwest Cup, posting the season highest team score to date (315.150). Hundreds of spectators were present to witness the 5 teams competing and INSANE gymnastics every way you looked. In case you missed it, the meet was live streamed and is available on the GymACT Youtube channel:

Thank you Kevin and Senator for the great commentary.

Georgia United hosted a HUGE invitational meet and for the second consecutive year finished on top to keep the team trophy at home.  It was an exciting competition and Georgia was able to hold off their regional rivals, Florida Storm, by a slim margin. And what a joy to see the South Carolina Sabals (@scsabals) come out and test the waters in a GymACT event.

From day one New York Alliance and Temple have been “friendly” rivals and at the Alliance Open they faced off once again. In this installment Temple took the ‘W’, but the Alliance put up a good fight in front of their home crowd.

Gymnast of the Week 7

Nominees

Tyler Davidson - Armadillos

Tyler Davidson is our nomination for GymACT Gymnast of the Week following an outstanding performance this past weekend at the Georgia United competition. The 19-year-old event specialist from Austin, Texas delivered an eye-catching routine on pommel horse, earning a gold medal with a 13.9 — the highest score recorded across all events at the competition. Tyler’s routine stood out not only for its difficulty and execution, but for the work ethic and preparation applied in the weeks leading up to the meet. His performance provided tremendous momentum for the team and established him as one of the premier pommel horse workers in GymACT.

For these reasons, Tyler Davidson is a deserving choice for GymACT Gymnast of the Week.

Elliot Foster - Arizona

When a team posts a 315, there are plenty of standout performances, but this week the nod goes to Elliot Foster on his Senior Night. Foster elevated his performance from the previous week by expanding his workload to four additional events and stepping into the all-around role. He rose to the occasion, winning the meet and recording the highest all-around score of the season across GymACT. Foster also earned three top-five event finishes at the six-team Southwest Cup, including a clutch victory on high bar to close out the meet.

CONNECTING THE DOTS: Celebrating a giant.

There was an emotional moment at Southwest Cup that happened when the entire arena sang “Happy Birthday” to the late-great Rob Survick.  We continue to celebrate you, sir, and the amazing impact you had on our sport; and continue to have.  We celebrate your legacy, the countless lives you’ve influenced so deeply; and continue to do so.  I celebrate you, friend.
